Book CoverThe Dead Man: Hell in Heaven
Lee Goldberg and William Rabkin
2011, Adventures in Television, Inc., E book, 114 pages

THE DEAD MAN HELL IN HEAVEN is book 3 in the series.    Matt, who awoke after having been frozen for 3 months (Book 1) has developed special talents.  He can see rot and decay in people.  With this insight he can tell who is going to do something bad, such as murder.  He also discovered an evil man, Mr. Dark who seeks out people to use in committing heinous crimes.  That brings us to book 3, where Matt continues his quest to find and destroy Mr. Dark.

His journey continues as he roams the country looking for a sign of where he is supposed to be; where he will find Mr. Dark.  His quest brings him to the town of heaven where he finds a huge banner welcoming Matt.  Were they expecting him.  But the town appears deserted although he can see movement inside of the buildings.  Finally a young girl comes out and yells to the others, “It’s him, it’s Matt.” And the townies come out.  One woman explains to him that they are actually waiting for her son to return home from the war – his name is also Matt. She is a kind woman and offers Matt to stay in her home while they continue to wait for her son.  He does.  It seems like a slightly backward town but quaint.   But in THE DEAD MAN series nothing is as it seems and Matt must be prepared for Mr. Dark at every corner.

Before long Matt enters into a relationship with the woman.  In true TWLIGHT ZONE we are transported to another world.  Who can Matt trust?  Or can he?  What ensues is a wonderful mix of suspense and horror in that rivals Koontz and King.  Superior!

THE DEAD MAN series is easy to read – being novellas, they can be read in one seating, waiting at the airport, on the plane, waiting for a meeting – anywhere but be prepared to be taken for one “hell” of a roller coaster ride as Matt protects and fights.

This is a wonderful series, and part 3 THE DEAD MAN HELL IN HEAVEN is no exception.  The writing is superb taking us right there with Matt as he puts himself in harm’s way, as he makes love, as he fights to survive.  The writing paints a picture that allows us to be voyeurs on Matt’s journey.  Excellent.

On a scale of 1 to 5, I give it a 5!

Book CoverThe Dead Man: The Dead Woman
Lee Golberg & William Rabkin
Written by David McAfee
Book 4 in the series
2011 E Book, Adventures in Television, 131 pages

The saga of Matt’s journey to fight evil and destroy Mr. Dark continues in Book 4, THE DEAN MAN THE DEAD WOMAN.

Matt looks for signs as he continues his journey to find Mr. Dark.  He felt the need to go to Crawford, Tenn.  He bought a bus ticket and off he went.  But with few dollars to his name, he knew it would be rough going.  Hungry, he stopped at a fast food restaurant for a quick bite.  The young woman suggested to go to a bookstore where the owner was looking for help.

But this quaint little town has a serial killer and that makes Matt sure that he is in the right place.  Abbey, the book store owner and he develop into an active relationship. And while they are dining and he spots a man walking down the street with a small patch of rot he takes off in pursuit.  This quick action allows him to save the man’s wife and her lover from death.  But is raises the question of how did he know?  That’s when Abbey shares that she too sees the rotted patches.  Someone else like him?  Matt is excited and thrilled.  But Abbey has a very jealous ex husband who is a cop.  And as more murders occur, who is who?  Can Matt trust anyone?

Once again, THE DEAD MAN THE DEAD WOMAN excites, is suspenseful and keeps the reader on their toes!  As I have stated, I love this series – part suspense, part horror – all wonderful!  I cannot wait for the further adventures of Matt!  If you like suspense with some horror, you will love this series.  Think Koontz, King and you have it!  Great series and THE DEAD MAN THE DEAD WOMAN does not disappoint!

On a scale of 1 to 5, I give it a 5.

Book CoverFuture Imperfect: Book One Crucifying Angel
P.I. Barrington
Desert Breeze Publishing, 2009, E Book, 111 pages
ISBN: 10-1-936000-19-9

Payne and her new partner Gavin are tracking a serial killer. The serial killer is called the crucifying angel as his victims are laid out in a crucifixion.  As Payne and Gavin investigate, they are led to a cult like organization, New Creation,  and a casino that the victims have in common.  And everything goes crazy when Payne goes missing.  James, an informant and member of the cult joins forces with Gavin to find his missing friend Edana and Payne.  What ensues is a roller coaster of excitement as they all try to outwit and out run the Crucifying Angel.

FUTURE IMPERFECT is part one of the series and is exciting and leaves one wanting more.  Gavin and Payne play well off each other.  Like THE DEAD MAN series, this series is also one to read!

On a scale of 1 to 5, I give it a 5.
