Popped CoverBODY SNATCHERS IN THE DESERT
Nick Redfern
Paraview Pocket Books, June 2005, $14.00, 248 pp.
ISBN 0-7434-9753-8

Something strange happened in the area around Roswell, New Mexico in the summer of 1947 that has captivated the public's curiosity and imagination for almost sixty years. UFO theories abound, television shows revolve around the alien from another world theme. But what if the truth about the Roswell events is less fantastical and more sinister than anyone ever dreamed?

BODY SNATCHERS IN THE DESERT puts forth the theory that the United States government was behind the events of that summer in 1947 and used the UFO stories as a clever hoax against the public--psychological warfare to cover-up the truth: the US military engaged in human experimentation while rushing to perfect a nuclear-power aircraft in the latter days of World War II.

Some may find that idea hard to believe, but are UFO's and aliens more likely than a government military project? With supporting documentation, corroborated interviews, and a detailed examination of the mindsets and practices of military personnel during the time period of the Roswell incident, the author makes a strong case for his theory. And he writes the story in such an easy to understand, conversational style that you don't feel lost in all the information he puts forth as proof--and he does provide a great deal of information. He walks you step by step through the events leading up to, during and after the incident, showing how they are all connected and showing how foreign countries such as Great Britain, Japan and Germany played a role in what happened.

Anyone who is even a little bit intrigued about what went on in that desert back in 1947 should read BODY SNATCHERS IN THE DESERT. It's fascinating, engaging, and in this reviewer's opinion, finally puts the mystery of Roswell to rest.
