What a wonderful, unique story telling event. 12 authors wrote this delightfully delicious round robin story. 12 outrageously talented authors each wrote segments in this suspense. What I found really great is that with 12 different writers, I was unable to predict the ending! And I love that! Lauren Blaine is running for her life. She has left her abusive husband. Oh, and she took his money. Lauren though is quite resourceful and willing to do whatever it takes to stay one step ahead of not only her husband but the drug dealers he has been dealing with as well as a host of other various bad guys on her tail. Can she trust anyone? Is anyone who they purport to be? Her running leads us on a nonstop thrill ride that made me not want to put the “book” down. A heroine with guts, fortitude, beauty, and willing to do anything? Yep there are some of us J Seriously, Lauren is so much fun, and you want to ride along with her to see not only how she will get out of trouble but how she got into it! Great fun! Great read! Great authors! Just great! On a scale of 1 to 5, I give it a 5. Reviewed by Dr. Cynthia Lea Clark, Psy.D. MHt.
Mike Johnson is a former detective turned DA. When an old friend of his is murdered in prison, Mike takes a second look at why his friend took a plea deal. He had maintained his innocence in the murder of the woman he had been having an affair with, and now Mike was beginning to wonder if that was indeed the case. While on vacation, he returns to his office to copy the old file and is seen by cohort. Using the office resources for private reasons is verboten and he is called into the boss’s office. The admonishment escalates and Mike quits. But then he is offered a promotion, more money and a bigger office to come back – but of course he has to forgo his looking into his friend’s case. Then a prestigious private firm makes a stunning offer – again sans his investigation. This makes Mike even more suspicious that someone else committed that murder. And when his car is blown to smithereens, he is sure. Frank Scully crafts a clever whodunit. I could not put the book down. The ancillary characters are as interesting as the main characters. And the twists and turns as he searches for truth and justice make one want to get in there with him and ferret out truth and justice. Wonderfully written! Enjoyed it totally. On a scale of 1 to 5 – I give it a 5. Reviewed by Dr. Cynthia Lea Clark, Psy.D. MHt.
